Foodbank of Santa Barbara County
The mission of the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is to provide nourishment to those in need by acquiring and distributing safe nutritious foods via local agencies and providing education to solve hunger and nutrition problems in Santa Barbara County. Last year we distributed 9.3 million pounds of food, half of which was fresh produce.
Backyard Bounty Program
The Backyard Bounty Program is a volunteer-powered gleaning program of the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County. Since the program began in late 2007, Foodbank Volunteers have harvested over 500,000 pounds of produce from private properties in the Santa Barbara area. This fresh nutritious produce, including oranges, limes, avocados, persimmons and tangerines, has been distributed to those in need throughout the Santa Barbara County.
